Is there any reason why I wouldn’t delete the local media? I have a large media collection on my server. As you can imagine, it’s very taxing on my server. I’ve moved everything to Google, but I’d like to delete it from my hosting server.

If it’s a bad idea, is there a way to compress it to take up less space?

  • +1 for this. All the files are in SSD right now and they are taxing me more than 10 times.

    Hello,

As long you have everything on google cloud you should be good to go ??

    Hello @elena,

I strongly believe it should give an option to DELETE ALL UPLOADED FILLES as soon as they are uploaded.

Many a times uploads folder have files that are not in media folder and specially when the site is very big and old (e.g. I got 150k+ images and 8 year old site). So it’s highly risky to delete the files manuallly.

I hope you will understand for this small but essential enhancement.

    Thanks

    Hello,

I will pass this idea to our development team ??

    Have a great weekend!

    Strongly needed this feature Elena!

The main purpose of sending media files to G Storage is the cost and capability of disk space for media files.
Otherwise my SSD speed is good enough (but expensive in contrast to G Storage).

Any update on this? This is costing us a fortune due to holding the media in both places.

    What that mean?
    When user upload a file.
We need to delete it from local manually?

It has been an year since last update. The company behind it keep on saying that it will be released soon.. God knows when!!!

Hello everyone – we are just about ready to release a big update. This update includes the “stateless” mode which will delete the local file upon successful upload to Google Cloud Storage.

If you don’t want to wait for the public release, you can download the v2.0.0-rc1 release candidate from GitHub at https://github.com/wpCloud/wp-stateless/releases

This feature now available in v2.0, available for download now. Set the Mode to Stateless and it will delete the local file upon succesful upload to GCS.

    Thanks everyone.

    Eric,

are you sure about that? I deleted my files (woocomm- WP,13000 images) from hosting but won’t serve them from GSC. And I see them on bucket.
    Before deletion it was fine.

    Any suggestion?

    THX
