Form Submission to Database, Not email

  • I have scoured the net attempting to find a WP Plugin that has a form that enters submissions into a Database opposed to an email. This is a useful option for such purposes as organizing leads, offer sweepstakes entries and collection other proprietary information for abstract purposes.

    Is there a plugin that does this?

    If not … WordPress Plugin Authors that find this interesting and would consider development should consider the following:
    1) The ability to require a checkbox for submission, control the content of the ‘Agreement’ link and the URL of that link (Privacy Policy, TOS, TOU, Sweepstakes Details, Disclosure… etc). Ability for flexibility is very necessary to ensure the plugin could be used for anything.
    2) An interface to filter and sort results.
    3) Ability to run multiple different forms, keeping results separate as well as the ability to combine and compare (pushing it).
    4) Ability to have an unlimited amount of fields.
    5) Ability to send customizable confirmation emails.

    I know this is a shot in the dark, just putting the intentions out there! Thanks for reading ??

    ive got a form, but i want to build up a usable and manageable database which is easy to maintain plus sort/filter

    eg. later on if my database grows i can send out to eg. women age 18-30s who live in X, etc…

    Maybe you want to use the wrong tool. Everything you two described above should be done in a mailing list not in a blogging tool. And yes, there are professional mailing list out there on the market. Go and find them.

    I am also looking for something like this. I need a form where I can enter the data and store it in a database and then later retrieve the information by using the search engine in wordpress. Any one know of any such option which can be integrated into wordpress.

    Yes, I could use something like this as well. I need a form that gathers reader responses and feeds them into a database, that I could then publish in table form.

    Just arrived from the previous discussion and thought I’d give this a bump by adding my name to this wish-list.

    Although I’ve read articles that give one the basic idea and feel confident I could produce something rather rough-and-ready, I lack the knowledge relating to security.

    I’ve come across something that seems to do the job – look for the MM Forms plugin in the WP extend directory. It’s built on Contact Form 7 and seems pretty good. It writes to a db file and sends an email when the form is completed.

    The developer seems to be struggling to answer questions, but here are the things I learnt using it:
    a) Most of the advice for Contact Form 7 applies to this plugin as well (in terms of making the form work etc)
    b) You have to manually create an exports directory underneath the MM Forms plug in directory
    c) You need to tick the export ID option to get the CSV file export to format correctly.

    Me too! This should almost be core WP functionality, shouldn’t it?

    Oh, and Moshu’s point about just being a mailing list – not so for me. I would like to build databases that could have 100 fields – large forms for applications, such as job applicants, partners, and other types of business relationships.

    I was looking for something similar to use as a RSVP system for WordPress, but came up empty. I’ve considering writing one myself, but my PHP is a little rusty. Hopefully some intrepid plugin author will step up to the plate!

    I’ve always built an external php form and included it into a template through wordpress. It’d be cool to build something out as a plugin but it’d be a pain.

    It would be REALLY cool to build the admin so you’d have a form builder and all that would submit to the db and you’d have a backend admin system to look at and sort results…. that’d be the ultimate mod…

    I don’t have time to build that but maybe we could all pitch in for a developer to build it? Just a thought

    I could be missing the point here, but I use PHPlist and the PHPlist plugin to accomplish everything requested… This solution requires some learning curve. It should be trivial for anyone that can install WP, build/mod themes, and/or write any PHP at all.
    Phplist allows for infinite custom fields, does great mailing list management, has good built-in double-opt-in capabilities, and let’s you decide if/when you want emails to be sent when someone registers…
    There is also a pretty active developer/user support forum and like WP it is free/GNU open source…
    The only thing really lacking is some simplification on the install/config and tighter integration with WP…
