Using wordpress as a platform for a social based site

  • Hi Guys,

    I really love wordpress and I have some excellent themes for it and I love how customizable it is but this is the big one. I want to develop a new social based advertising site and will require quite a few custom features going into it. This site is far from a biog, but will use some of the blogging tools built in for other things.

    Is wordpress that customizable?

  • It’s hard to say, as you really gave no description of what the site is supposed to do, but generally speaking, WordPress provides enough extension flexibility to pull off practically anything. The real questions are (1) whether WordPress native functionality will be an impediment to the extensions, and (2) whether the extensions will be compatible with future versions of WordPress.

    I think wordpress is the best. It is customizable you can turn it into one of the most powerful cms’s out there. It all depends on really if you have the right plugins to add to what you want to do. Personally I used drupal and joomla. I like WP because of the user friendliness and ease of use.
