• Hi

I’ve set up the plug in and watched various online tutorials, gone through the documentation and also the support forums and have been unable to find a solution. I also worked through all the steps in this post:

    https://givewp.com/documentation/core/settings/emails/troubleshooting-common-email-problems/

In the give settings > email > donation notifications emails, I’ve added the email address I want the notifications to go to. I’ve typed the address in the following format [email protected] without any punctuation around it. Nor have I copied and pasted the address in.

Using the postman plugin, the email is shown as “sent” and from give settings on the wp dashboard I get a notice that the email has been sent. If I try to “resend” in postman, I receive the following message.

Email could not be resent. Error: Invalid “To” e-mail address “a:1:{i:0;s:20:”[email protected]”;}”

I have other plugins installed that send me emails and I’m not having an issue with those. The site is also sending emails just fine. Plus when I do a test donation of $1 I will receive the donation notification. So there seems to be a problem with the send test email function within give.

Trying to resend the donation notification from a successful give test donation of $1 will also fail in postman, giving me the same error.

Any ideas on how to solve this?

    Regards

    Deb.

    Hi @iseroma

Please see the documentation article that @treesite referred to:
    https://givewp.com/documentation/core/settings/emails/troubleshooting-common-email-problems/

That will help you troubleshoot your WordPress install and configure it to more reliably send emails.

@treesite The problem is that once Give sends the email, it’s out of our hands from there. Once those emails are sent there’s a complicated mix of server-side issues or even email client issues that could prevent it.

But just for clarification, you mentioned the postman plugin, but sometimes it seems like you’re referring to the Email Cop plugin instead. Can you clarify that a bit? I want to make sure I understand what’s happening correctly.

Here’s a few additional things I would try:

    1) Make sure you disable ALL plugin except Give, Email Cop, and Postman when testing. It’s possible abother plugin is triggering a conflict with how your emails are being processed.

    2) Change the notification email address to a gmail.com address instead of your domain email address. It’s possible something could be wrong with how your emails are being routed with your domain (MX records). If it works as expected with the gmail address, then you know it’s related to your domain email address.

    3) Double-check in Email Cop that it’s showing that your Give emails are being sent out with the correct email address and TO the right email address.

Let me know how that goes. Thanks!
