I can not locate the instructions on how to insert the social icons that are shown in the footer of the demo. Can someone please direct me to those instructions again?

Hello blmahon,
You have to create menu for social links from
Dashboard >> Apperance >> Menus.Follow below screenshot:
1. Create Social Menu
2. Add social links and assign location
