• Resolved J&D

Have successfully been using this plugin for a while but since this morning I have been getting the following error message instead of galleries being displayed:

“Jetpack’s Carousel has been disabled, because another plugin or your theme is overriding the [gallery] shortcode.”

I have been through the process of deactivating plugins to test for conflicts, and the galleries display correctly when I deactivate the WP Gallery Custom Links plugin – of course the custom links within the galleries no longer work.

Stranger still, this issue only appears to be present on the desktop site, with the mobile version operating as it should.

Am using the current version of WordPress with the Lovecraft theme.

Wondering if this is aknown issue and whether there was a resolution available.

Thanks in advance for any advice.

    John

  • Try adding add_filter( ‘jp_carousel_force_enable’, function( $input ) { return true; } ); to your functions.php

I’m having this issue as well. It started when I updated to the new version of WordPress today. I am using the Vantage theme. Did Karimeo’s solution help?

    Thanks,
    Christine

I’m having the same problem. Karimeo’s solution didn’t work for me.

Thanks for the tip Karimeo, unfortunately didn’t work for me.

Still looking for a solution if anyone has any ideas.

On further testing, the other very weird thing about this problem is that I get this error on my macbook, however, my wife can load the same page on her macbook without the error, and the gallery links are working fine.

This occurs after we have both deleted our browsing history and cache.

    Am now truly baffled!

    Hi all

Weirdly this issue has now resolved itself – no idea how, but from this evening I no longer seem to be having this issue.

Have not taken any action to resolve so not sure why it now works?

As such am closing thread as resolved.

Hi, did you do something special ? I got the same problem, i really need to use WP gallery custom links with carousel jetpack, but I have the same conflict, everything seems to be the last update.

I’ve searched all night and can’t figure it out

at least do you any alternative to Wp custom links ?

    thanks

    it’s not fixed ??

Used to work fine and now we can’t use multiple jetpack galleries on the same page, disabling this plugin resolves the issue, but we need custom links for galleries ??

    Any suggestions?

    Hi guys

    You’re right it’s not fixed.

I had a few days where the site worked fine on all my devices but today it has reverted back to the original problem, again displaying the message “Jetpack’s Carousel has been disabled, because another plugin or your theme is overriding the [gallery] shortcode.”

I hope someone out there has a solution.

Having the same issue – would appreciate if someone could find a solution ??

I’m in the same boat… This plugin has worked great for me for several years but it does not seem to be compatible with WP 4.7 and/or Jetpack. Anyone know of an alternative?

    (@wayfarians)

Yep an alternative would be great, or dare I dream to have this kind of functionality in the core functionality??

I have been fiddling around with this all day because I had the same error message. Then I realized that it only didn’t work in Firefox on my computer. Other computers, phone, different browsers on my computer… all good. I finally logged out of my account and went back to my site without being logged in… and guess what, the picture gallery with the links was there again, even in Firefox.

It seems to be only an issue when you are logged in? Weird. Will have to keep an eye on it.

Hey guys, the Jetpack team have found a solution for this – did the trick for me:

    Thanks very much marie0722

So it would seem that although the error message is showing while logged in, on the live site the galleries are working fine!!

Problem is of course that when you are creating a page or post you want to see how it looks in preview, but in this case the preview doesn’t work.

Will try the functions.php edit again and see if that works.
