• I am a developer for the website ChampionBrick.com. I am experiencing some strange behavior with the plugin on the WordPress search page.

The first level page looks fine. It comes up with all the pages I have tagged with the search keywords. In this example Gascony is the keyword:
    https://www.championbrick.com/?s=Gascony

The problem is when you click one of the product links:
    https://www.championbrick.com/?s=Gascony&SingleProduct=557

The individual pages are still being listed out (ANGLIA, GRANIKA STEP, WESTON WALL, etc.), but each product entry is showing up with the same photo and description as the first item.

In this case “Gascony Tan” gets repeated.

    Please advise.

  • Hi Jacob,

UPCP wasn’t designed to work with the default WordPress search, so you probably will run into some issues using it with our plugin.

    Two alternatives I can suggest:

    1. Use our “UPCP Search Bar” widget, which comes with our plugin.
    2. Use the Sidebar search of the UPCP Catalogue (e.g. like the one you see on the left side here: https://www.championbrick.com/brick/match-brick/) as the main product search.

Thanks very much. I didn’t realize the plugin came with a search bar widget. That gives me almost everything I need.

One thing that would make it more useful is if it would search not just by product name, but by catalog, category, and sub-category name as well.

For example, even though I have a whole category of Pavers, nothing comes up in the search when I search for Pavers because none of the individual products have Pavers in their name.

Is this something could be added anytime soon?

    Hi Jacob,

Thank you for the feature suggestion. Unfortunately, we can’t promise that it will get added or, if it does, when that might be. Nevertheless, we’ll discuss it and hopefully it becomes something we can add in a future update.

Do you already know when you’re going to add this very much needed functionality?
    Best regards.

    Hi fp,

We don’t currently have this in our plans for any upcoming update. As such, it’s unlikely that it will be added in the near future.

    Hi @etoilewebdesign,

Is it possible to implement a loading screen for the search function? This would be a great help for the UX. Currently the loading time is just to long for a user to wait. Most of them leave the website because they don’t know the site is working for them. Many thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    FP

    Hi FP,

We’ve noted this as a feature request and will discuss the viability of implementing it in a future update.
