• I have had several blogs, but this is my first attempt at WordPress and I feel totally overwhelmed. I have uploaded several widgets and plugins and activated them, but do not have any idea of how to get them to show up on my sidebar. My site is https://www.reverseosteopenia.com I would also like to put a picture on the sidebar. Is that possible? I would also be grateful for any other suggestions you can give me.
    Thanks,
    Muryal

  • Widgets: control them by going into your WP-Admin > Design > Widgets.

There, it will tell you if your theme (Fluid Blue) is “Widget Enabled.” If it is, widgets are easy, you’ll see how.

If your theme is NOT widget ready, you would need to “Widgitize” your sidebar. This involves you inserting certain codes into sidebar.php file of your theme. It’s do-able, but not the easiest thing for someone who is new. Slightly complicated. Instructions are found in the Codex, under the Documentation tab above, or google widgitize.

For other plugins that are not widgets, it depends on which plugin. Each plugin usually gives it’s own instructions. Often it involves inserting 1 line of code into your theme (often into your sidebar.php). Some plugins work without this step.

hope this helps get you started

Thank you very much. I would also appreciate ideas on how to make the site more attractive?

Add some pictures to make it more attractive. It’s as simple as that. And how about a blue border for them?

According to the link to the Fluid Blue theme in your footer:

    https://srinig.com/wordpress/themes/fluid-blue/

The theme is widget ready. Use a Text widget and add code that links to an image, perhaps using the [img] tag.

Ironically, the theme’s site touts it as being “graphics free”.

how to make the site more attractive?

Photos, images, stuff to look at.

A wad of text without any breaks is fairly tedious to look at, and people will get tunred off if that’s all there is.

That would be a start. best of luck!!

I would also appreciate ideas on how to make the site more attractive?

    1. change your theme (center will work better for you).
    2. Images (Give some visual info).
    3.formatting WITHIN the text (Bold,Italic,etc)
    4. better menu and Nav in general (will be resolved with point 1.)
