    Hi,

I was looking for some reporting plugins and then I’ve downloaded and tested WP Business Intelligence.

With my big surprise I’ve found out that this a piece a software I wrote in 2011 and the only effort that has been done from who declares to be the “author” was to carefully replace my name anywhere in the source code.

Now from one side I am quite curious to understand what’s the position of the people responsible of that.

Then also, just for respect towards all the people who are actually using the software and (worse!) paid for it, one of the reasons why I’ve abandoned this project is that there are plenty of security breaches that may seriously affect you.

  • Hi giobby,

I am the 2nd owner of this plugin and was aware of any intellectual property concerns when I purchased. If you do have a concern about that aspect, I’m sure we can work something out, though we might be best to do that in privately. Please feel free to email [email protected]. The original owner said he tried to reach out to you before using your code, but never heard back.

One concern I have with your message is it seems unfair to me to characterise this as primarily written by yourself. I may be mistaken, but I know the programmer who did the majority of the D3js integration which represents the lions share of the complexity of this plugin.

Regarding the security concerns, we’ve addressed any that have come up and have never been made aware of anyone being subject to an attack because of this plugin.

    Regards,
    Kenton
