Should Stop XML-RPC be used for my WP version?

  • The company that hosts my site (Hostpapa) suggest that I install plugin Stop XML-RPC. But I see that the plugin has not been updated for a while and has not been tested with my version of WordPress. Do I really need it? If so, what is the risk of installing it?
