• Has anyone used godaddy.com to host their wordpress blog. How do they compare to other hosting plans as far as reliability and expense wise?

  • I’ve installed numerous blogs on godaddy. The economy hosting plan with linux/php works great.

What about the new Windows IIS7 hosting with PhP support? Has anyone installed WP on that?

FWIW, I have successfully installed WP on IIS7 hosting at GoDaddy. Works great.

I second the above. Also have problems with recieving emails on user registrations and comments.

Godaddy claims its not their problem, but I believe it is.

Running on linux shared server, and receiving emails is intermittent, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t.

If anyone has solved this on Godaddy please let me know.

I have the same problems that you guys with the emails and like you; I am beginning to think it is a GoDaddy issue and if you look for support in Godaddy or in WordPress; Nobody is guilty but the problem is there and nobody advocates to solve it. (Godaddy or WordPress).

    Regards

I’m also having problems with WP. Reloaded the database on godaddy and I just can’t get a password as per the readme.html. Godaddy told me initially it was the database, they fixed a bug so I could access the DB via ftp, but the problem still persists. 5min install is heading into 48 hours….and counting. Any ideas?? Cheers…

My 5minute install has been taking me since April. It is now the end of August. My first problem was a GoDaddy one (I couldn’t upload *anything* to the site, let alone WordPress); once that was resolved I put up a simple index page that I created using Dreamweaver.

Now that I’ve been able to upload WordPress, I’ve yet to be able to make any changes… From a ‘Clear Tables’ message (resolved) to the most recent one when I try to install a template while in wp:

“Warning: touch() [function.touch]: Unable to create file D:\Hosting\4449340\html/wp-content/atahualpa.3.4.1.zip because Permission denied in D:\Hosting\4449340\html\wp-admin\includes\file.php on line 175
Download failed. Could not create Temporary file”

I’ve also had an email() problem, which I tried to resolve by adding a plugin – I get a similar download failed message.

I really cannot tell if this is a GoDaddy problem, or a WordPress one, but none of the searches I’ve done here in the forum or on google have returned an answer that works.

I’m almost ready to give up and go back to the much simpler Dreamweaver with a link to a blog.

    Help. me. please…
