    Hi,
after Settings in the i-themes-security plugin my Website doens’t work any more. What can I do?

It Shows this Error: Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, admin and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    Thanks
    Birgit

    Thank you very much!

I’ve had this problem. Sometimes the plugin will basically delete all the contents of either .htaccess and/or wp-config.php. The thing to do is not let it write to those files (manually do it yourself) and to not give it the ability to restrict write access to plugins/files. It does this by security and by editing these files but sometimes it breaks those files.

You need to log in as root and chown/chmod the entire directory structure to get the security back, and then restore backups of wp-config.php (and .htaccess if you use those).

Better, if you have access to httpd.conf, don’t use .htaccess files (that slows the server down) and just put the directives into the httpd.conf or the vhost files.

I haven’t found an easier way to deal with ithemes security, since it can’t be trusted with maintaining these files by itself.
