I wonder what the Like-function actually does if it’s not related to an FB account or FB-Fanpage? I know you can Like something within FB, but I don’t have a Fanpage or something. So to what actually belongs that Like? Where in FB is it visible? What’s the advantage? Is there any, or should I disable the Like function in Question 2, if I don’t have a FB page?

A like means that somebody likes the page where he clicked on your like, e.g. your homepage. It’s always good to offer this option.

Thanks, I know what “Like” means. ?? But where’s the advantage for me if somebody clicks that – when it is nowhere visible/stored in FB? If it’s not visible, it doesn’t do anything, not even SEO, right?

If that’s the case, then the Like option would be a disadvantage, because if “Like” is present, but doesn’t do anything, then I might lose people using the “Share” option.

So to summarize: Does the Like option makes any sense, if I don’t have a FB page?

I’m not sure, but I think if somebody likes a page then it shows up in the facebook feed of the user who liked it, i.e. it will appear on facebook, irrelevant if that liked site has a facebook presence or not.
