I used the plugin, it generated the files

[2016-11-06 21:03:57] patxer has started generating static files
    [2016-11-06 21:03:57] Setting up
    [2016-11-06 21:04:00] Fetched 242 of 242 pages/files
[2016-11-06 21:04:38] ZIP archive created: Click here to download
    [2016-11-06 21:04:40] Wrapping up
    [2016-11-06 21:04:42] Done! Finished in 00:00:45

I click to download the zip archive, and when I opened it, there is nothing in it.

I am on linux/ubuntu – I then tried opening the zip in a browser facility for openings zips, and still it showed nothing.

I am also having this problem. Would love to know what others are doing to resolve this and what is causing it.

Given that the plugin has a perfect set of reviews, I am surprised to hear I am not the only one

    Hi guys,

Have you used a prior version of Simply Static, and if so, did it work for you then? I’m just curious if I broke it with a recent change or it just never worked for you.

I have never used it before

This is my first time using it as well.

Alright, a couple more questions if I could. In Settings->Advanced, there’s an option to Delete temporary files — can you uncheck that and then run Simply Static again? When it’s done, check the Temporary Files Directory.

Are your files in that directory? Is there a zip in there? Is the zip a 0kb file?

It sounds like Simply Static was probably generating your files, but maybe there’s a problem with the library I’m using to create the zip files.

That has worked – the zip i downloaded now actually has all the files in it

It’s worked on one site, but not on others, the ones it doesn’t work on happen to be Divi sites

The folder is still empty for me. I’ve attempted it a few times and they all seem to have a size of about 22B.

Thanks paxter, that helps narrow down the issue a bit (at least for your sites). I’ll take a closer look at the Divi theme.

ccoward15- What theme are you using? Would you be able to share the URL for your WordPress site? If you prefer, you can email at: [email protected]

We are having the same issue with 22B zip files currently, with a fresh installation of the plugin. We tried the unchecking delete temporary files workaround, but no difference.

We also tried the local directory option, but in all cases the configured output folder, the temporary folders and the zip files were all empty.

This is with version 1.8.0 on a WordPress 4.6.1 installation.

Hi orbitbot- what WordPress theme are you using?

    Hi patxer, ccoward15, and orbitbot,

Could you try using v2.0.1 of Simply Static? I’ve made some significant changes around how we’re generating static files, and folks that previously reported issues have told me that things are working for them now.

    Best,
    Scott
