    Hi,

The most likely cause for backups to run slowly is a low maximum execution time for PHP scripts.
If the backup process is not allowed to run for long, UpdraftPlus has to keep resuming the backup.

If you send us a copy of the latest backup log, we can check for any other issues. This log can be found in the Existing Backups tab of the UpdraftPlus settings page. The contents will be too long to post directly, but you can use an online service such as Pastebin, and post the link here.

    Hello.

    Thanks for your relply,

    Here’s the backup log:

I can raise some limits or probably it’s an InMotion hosting thing, on their reseller plan.
When the backup runs I can see the I/O max out in cPanel. Also the I/O level is max 1024. Not sure how to mesure this value to tell if it’s enough or it needs more.

I’ve spoke with InMotion support and they said that even if I upgrade to a higher reseller plan the I/O is the same.

Let me know, thanks for help.
    Have a great day.

    Hi Istvan,

In this case, the I/O limit is the cause of the slow backups. The log shows that, while the backup is running slowly, it is running relatively efficiently and with no errors.

‘1024’ most likely refers to 1024Kb/s for the I/O (read/write speed) limit. This is rather slow, and is limiting the speed of the backup (as UpdraftPlus can only process 1MB of data a second).

I’m afraid that there is not a way of speeding up the backups without increasing the I/O limit. However, in all other respects the backups appear to be running well.
