So version 1.8 wasn’t giving me any messages. It was just circling next to generate static files and underneath export log. I used 1.7 a bunch (20+ times) to generate static files and it worked fine. But when I downgraded from 1.8 to 1.7 I am now getting:

[2016-11-04 00:01:54] An exception occurred: Column doesn’t exist for Simply_Static_Page

This looks like a database issue. Any ideas?

  • Hi Scott,

same problem here. As I have problems with links containing email addresses, I wanted to switch back to 1.7.1 like thomasvaeth and get the same erro message ?? “An exception occurred: Column doesn’t exist for Simply_Static_Page.”
It seems that you’ve done some changes on the database structure, so any reversion is impossible :(…

    TIA for help.

    Amicably,

    Pierre.

Hmm, sorry for the trouble guys. I’ll take a look and try to get this resolved for you as soon as I can.

Uninstalling and reinstalling should get Simply Static working for you again. Though you’ll need to update the settings again.

    Best,
    Scott

    Hi Scott ?? !

Now that I found what was going wrong (my fault), I have no need to downgrade SS ?? !

Anyway, thanks for the quick support ?? !!

    Amicably,

    Pierre.

Pierre what did you do to fix this? Mine just sits and spins too.. it never completes generating the files?

So if you’re just getting the endless spinning (no text comes up at all), then go incognito mode and try it. If that works, then you just need to clear your local browsing data. That’s what I had to do to fix that problem.

The Column doesn’t exist for Simply_Static_Page error I was getting was fixed by doing another uninstall and installing 1.8 again.

    Hi antilimit :).

The only problem I had with SS 1.8 was my fault, so as I don’t to downgrade SS, I re-install the 1.8 release and it work fine for me :).

You should, perhaps try to do what tomasvaeth suggest to you.

    Amicably,

    Pierre.

I’ll mention something else another user ran into: they deleted everything from Additional URLs and Additional Files and Directories and then they were able to export successfully. If that works for you, or the Incognito method works, let me know. That’ll give me something to work off of to figure out why this is happening.

As far as downgrading, you’ll need to uninstall and reinstall. Simply Static doesn’t handle just replacing the files with a prior version currently.

    Best,
    Scott

    Hi all,

I’d encourage you to try using v2.0.1+ of Simply Static if you haven’t already. There are some significant changes to the codebase, and I believe it may resolve your issues. Let me know if you’re still having trouble after that though.

    Best,
    Scott
