• I have looked through this forum and can’t seem to find an answer to my problem. The biggest difficulty is that 404 errors are fairly common and generic, so in some ways its like trying to find a needle in a haystack.

    Here is my situation:

I have a WP installation on a development box at work for R&D. I am running with Apache and MySQL on port 8080 as IIS is running a .Net portal web app on port 80. I checked the database and all the url links i could find point to webserver:8080/wordpress/…

The blogroll links work fine, as they are pointing to an external site.
Also, the links to the admin console work fine. In fact I can make new posts and they are readable from the main page, but you can’t click on the post name link or any other post links.

    Please help!

    Thanks,
    Tony

  • It might be worth trying changing the permalinks to “default” – it could be mod_rewrite rules in your .htaccess causing the problem.

Thanks a lot! I thought I did switch back to default mode, but I tried so many settings with permalinks I guess it didn’t get set back to default on my last config attempt.

    No problem!

I just noticed you’re on IIS – I think you can use the index.php/pagename type links but not the better looking ones.
