Request of additional feature

  • Even still beeing developped I like this plugin very much as it is simple to use. There are some things I would like to suggest:

    A possibility to show the children of a pet on the page of pet. This option would be very handy for breeders to show all children of one dog in one place. Probably it could be done by updating the parants post as soon as a child is generated / updated.

    An Option to enable automatic ID generation would also be handy. That would require, that the Display name of the pet would have to in the Dropdown of parents IDs with the Value of the ID behind in order to be able to identify the Pet. That would remove the requirement to fill the ID mannually.

    About the possibilty to add further custom fields to be displayed I allready talked in a different posting. This would still be handy but I will look into that trying to integrate the “Advance Custom Profile Field” Plugin. I just have to figure out how to integrate it in way that I don’t have to edit core files from Laika, because of the inability to use autoupdate afterwards.

    How are your thoughts about this. Thank you very much for the great work you are doing.

    An Option to enable automatic ID: I’ll have to thing about this one, cause it may make things more complicated.

    About the possibiliti to add further custom fields: At the moment I’ll won’t add more custom fields, there is already a field where you can add information.

    By the way, what you recommended of litters is a very good idea. In fact I’m developing a new plugin that will be compatible with this one. “Felicette Pedigree Litters”, it will be up probably in less than a week + the time wordpress admins take to accept it.

    I ve build a site for the breeder of our deerhound in which I use the plugin quite heavily. It is working realy fine and everything looks great. What I found out in the backend as soon as you have several dogs included (in my case something about 50 dogs it gets a little bit difficult to find the dogs. Do you think there could be a way to build a complete tree af all dogs in the backend (or at least one or two levels more than the one on the frontend) so that you could navigate through them faster?

    I got a little bit further down the line and digged into the topic. In a research about different possibilities I found an intersting JS library that could be really benefitial to use to display the whole tree:
    JSPlumb avalable under https://jsplumbtoolkit.com/. The only thing is to convert the pedigree tree data to JSON Data, which should not be so difficult, but I don’t want to do it on my own, as you are still planning on updatig and if I would incorporate these changes in my own copy the plugin would not be compatible for updates any more. SO from my point currently just a suggestion to incorporate a new feature.

    @dragonmoon I’ve been very busy those days, now I’m working on the new plug-in and I have to fix security issues of Laika.

    I’ll take a look on this library, but you can allays create a new plugin that change Laika’s behavior, so you can update it.

    Just an update to let you know that Felicette pedigree litters is on the repository.

    I would like to suggest a very simple but still useful feature.

    The default Pedigree direction is right-to-left. If it possible please include an option to left-to-right direction. On my site I use to edit CSS to do so (float:left instead of float:right).

    Yes I’ll do that in the next update, thank you for the suggestion.

    One more idea to add [shortcodes] to plugin.
    For example
    [laika-studs] – to show all studs
    [laika-bitches] – to show all bitches
    [laika-all] – to show all pets
    [laika-%id%] – to show pet with ID or IDs if more than one specified

    @rocomua the new update 0.16 lets you invert the direction of the tree. About the shortcodes is a more complex issue, I’ll be thinking about a different approach, because it could slow down the entire site.

    Could you please @burria kindly help to find a file where I can change the position of Pedigree Tree? I need to show it on the top of the page.
    May be it is good idea for a new switch?

    @rocomua it happens on custom-type-display.php. I’m looking to add hooks, but if you need one in a certain place (so you can update even after “hacking it”) tell me please.
