I have the latest wordpress with the Shopkeeper theme (by GetBowtied).

I installed the plugin and followed all the instructions:
I created an account, got the API keys from the algolia back-office, entered the proper API keys in their respective fields in the Settings page in my WordPress back-office.

I did not get a notification that the API keys were successful.

I tried to index the website, and got a log with the error “Unable to validate credentials.”

I regenerated the API key in the Algolia back-office and re-entered it. Again, didn’t get a notification that the API keys were successful. I tried to index the site and was successful! The index shows in the Indices page in the Algolia back office.

I enabled Autocomplete in the Algolia Autocomplete page in the WordPress back-office.
In the “Search Page” settings page, I chose “Use Algolia with Instantsearch.js”.

Not only does the autocomplete not work on the website, any search results give an empty page! meaning, the search results page I get when searching the site has my theme (header, footer) but with nothing else in it.
The plugin does not work at all for me and I am wondering what I did wrong.

For now I have disabled the plugin.
If you have any idea about why it doesn’t work please help, because it looks like your plugin could be great.

    Hi @udidol,

I’m sorry that you struggle with the initial setup.

Given that you see no validation message on the page where you submit the API Keys, it means your WordPress instance has some problems with transients which we use.

Could you let me know what caching plugin you use?

    Hi,
I use W3TC. I did purge all caches before and after installation…

    Ok @udidol,

Do you use version 1.3.0 of the plugin? We now display a notice to invite you to exclude a term from W3TC. Could you let me know if you have added the “algolia_” to the W3TC database cache configuration in the “Ignored Query Stems” options?

If you struggle finding where to add this, please upgrade the plugin to the latest version to get a help message.

    Hi @rayrutjes,
I have the latest version of the plugin installed and I did exclude the term from W3TC, exactly as the instructions said to do.

Thank you for your quick responses!

Do you mind giving 1.4.0 a try @udidol?
