Importer converting pages into text document in Media Library

Trying to create a template based migration on several new domains:

I’m having trouble migrating pages from one WordPress site to another. I’ve tried to make new Exports over and over, trying different methods to import has two different results.

When I’m trying to export everything (pages, menus,images,post etc) from the old site to the new one:
-With “Download and import file attachments” checked (Because I have images in the mix as well) All images download into the Media Library, including pages/posts.. which becomes a xlm.html file. The pages/posts don’t export over properly. Pages section blank, Post pages blank.

When I import JUST the pages:
-Pages show up in page section, but I’m unable to link them to the menus I’ve created on the original site, and of course images don’t translate over either.

I’d like to make this process as simple as possible. Is it possible to get the everything to migrate properly without the xml file being convered to .txt file?
