Child themes … but what about Mother themes

Interesingly, maybe sadly, I created a theme called MotherTheme to do sort of what child themes do, so I hear. But child themes need parents, some would go so far as to say that a mother is crucial (children don’t happen without them) so perhaps it’s not such a sad thing after all.
