How to Hide the Tagline

My site is ciaoneitalia.com

I would like to hide this “all things italy, from one italophile to another – culture | art | language | food | travel” without deleting it from my tagline.

I have already tried putting these two custom css into both the custom css and the editor for the stylesheet of my blog:

.site-description:after {
border: none;
}
.desc{display:none!important}

It still shows up. Any ideas?
