• Hi,

I have a few questions which I was hoping a seasoned WordPress user / developer would be able to help.

We are setting up a community, that utilizes many of the aspects that WordPress might be able to provide. I was hoping to break them down in this post, and maybe someone can recommend the correct plugins or let me know if it is even possible to achieve.

Firstly, anyone is allowed to register. Basic registration requires you to have access to “news/blog articles” and “group advertisement”. Then you have an application system to apply for other roles, such as “writer” “teacher” “student”.

Breaking it down further. The group advertisement is where people can post to recruitment messages to help fill a missing role in their group, or look for an extra person. As a member, who is looking through the adverts, I want them to be able to refine the listing based on: location, class, and topic.

Once an application is approved for Students, they are able to access: “Rate my teacher” – post their rating and comments about their experience with the teacher. They are also able to access a page, similar to “group advertisement” where they are able to post and ask for help. To which other students and teachers are able to reply, but the teacher ratings are visible to the students only.

“Rate my teacher” shows all the members that have the rank of “teacher” and students are able to give them 0 to 5 stars, and post about their experience. The list may be sorted by ranking (stars) and/or number of votes and/or alphabetically.

Teachers are able to comment on and rate a student, but it is only visible to the teachers, and no one else. When teachers browse the “students posting for help” the rating of students is made visible to the teachers only.

Teachers also have their own area, where they may discuss timings and schedule events with the students. They may create an event and invite selected students and teachers to attend.

Teachers may group as 3 or 4 together, to make these events, so they don’t have to invite their “team” every time to attend said events.

News Article pages are visible to every registered member. They may also be reviewed, rated, and commented on by people. The articles may be sorted by top rated, top viewed, top commented, and/or by subject and by topic.

    Sorry for the long post!

    Please advise.

  • I am not a developer, but of the top of my head, most better membership plugings (I think) will have most of these features at least with addons. I guess you have looked at Buddypress and Ultimate membership Pro and checked features and extensions. These all allow most of what I think you want.
