Create a sidebar login status and logout link

Hi Chad
Working with your plugin now for a couple hours and finding difficulties implementing a login status in a sidebar widget in a header. Following guidance at https://rocketgeek.com/shortcodes/create-a-sidebar-login-status-and-logout-link/ and noting the changes to shortcodes (List of replacement shortcodes), I cannot get it to work. I am looking for a simple (IF Logged in, present Username + Logout link, ELSE Login). Help appreciated.
