• Running version V2.5.3

I was really hoping that this plugin would resolve our above-the-fold challenge with the Google speed tests.

I have tried all the options and can’t seem to get this plugin to work I am getting 78/100 for mobile for PageSpeed Tool Insights.

I did my Critical CSS and all those errors were all removed. ??
Still getting 16 render-blocking JavaScripts errors even thou I turned on all the Javascript Optimization.

I turned on Proxy External Styles and that states that it should pass the Leverage Browser Caching, but I’m still getting that error too.

There just doesn’t seem to be an easy way to do this even after reading all the related documentation.

    Thanks,
    ~ Pat

    Hi Pat,

Above The Fold Optimization is a difficult and meticulous task. There often is no easy way to achieve a Google PageSpeed 100 Score.

As stated in the plugin description, the plugin is not a simple ‘on/off’ plugin. It is a tool to be used with other tools, such as concatenation, minification and full page cache plugins, and it often requires expert optimization knowledge.

If the proxy is working well (you can debug it using the debug option), the Google PageSpeed penalty is most likely related to the render systematics of your theme and/or complex javascript (render) problems.

Sometimes it can take a day for an expert to achieve a 100 score. The plugin is just made to make it more easy to achieve a 100 score.

I hope that you will find a way to achieve a Google PageSpeed 100 Score!

I upgraded our rating for this plugin from 1 to 3.

We added Autoptimize to our blog and along with Above the Fold, we got our speed test up to 90/100 for mobile & 96/100 for desktop. We are also using CometCache for Cacheing.

    Much better than 78/100.

    Thanks,

Hi Pat or anyone. What settings did you use for CSS, JS etc. to get the improvement in your speed. I am a complete novice and the mere mention of “difficult and meticulous task” has got me trembling in my boots. I will be grateful if someone can post their settings for each of the Tabs.

Look for plugins that would allow for combining all our CSS files in to one single file, and do the same for your JS files. There are a number of such plugins available that you can chose from. Use Google’s PageSpeed tool to test performance as you test these plugins. The Google tool does a good job guiding you to resolve the paint points. Good luck.

Thank you sir. At the risk of asking too much can you please suggest 2 or 3 top single-file CSS and JS combination plugins. I will then test them one by one. Cheers
