    Hi,

I’m having an issue with the plugin and I wondered if you could help.

I’m using the MailChimp user sync functionality which is working great. However I have noticed that if a user changes their email address in WordPress the plugin pushes the new email to mailchimp but it doesn’t delete the old address. It means that if people have changed an email within WordPress they get mailchimp emails to both their old and new addresses. I wondered there was a setting that could be changed that will delete the old email and just have the new one within mailchimp as this is upsetting some users who are trying to redirect their emails that come from us.

    Thanks,

    Matthew

  • Sign in to the Admin side, and go MailChimp -> Forms -> Settings. Do you have “Update existing subscribers?” set to “yes”? I think that’s supposed to update the current users rather than adding a new one when they change their email address.

We are aware of the problem.

With MailChimp version 3.0, users cannot update a subscriber email address. While this may have been available with past versions of our API, it is no longer supported. To update a subscriber email address, the best move will be to manually update from within MailChimp. Each email address is considered to be a unique identifier for list members.

We are looking into unsubscribing the old email, but we won’t delete it because else data connected to that email will be lost too.

Thanks for your reply. It sounds like mailchimp have not been helpful with their new API.

Is there a mailing list through which I can be kept up to do date with any developments and changes to the plugin?

    Thanks,

    Matthew
