When I first enter the “Settings” area – everything looks good. There is a map of New York there on the upper right area. When I click the “Create Map” the New York map goes away and leaves me with the following message:
    “Oops! Something went wrong.
This page didn’t load Google Maps correctly. See the JavaScript console for technical details.”

I don’t have a clue as to what this means or how to fix it. Can you tell me please? I really wanted to use this plugin – but problem right from the get-go. I have the current WP version: 4.6.1 and all plugins and themes are up to date as well.

Thank you so much for you help,
    Linda

    Hello @loopydesign

The problem is connected with the update of Google Maps APIs Standard Plan. Now it has certain restrictions.

Google Maps APIs Standard Plan updates implemented on June 22, 2016, are as follows:
    1. We no longer support keyless access (any request that doesn’t include an API key). Future product updates are only available for requests made with an API key.
    2. We have implemented a simple 25,000 map loads per day free limit for new Google Maps JavaScript API, Static Maps API, and Street View Image API implementations. The rolling 90-day grace period for existing applications is being retired on October 12, 2016.
    3. We have reduced the maximum daily map load limit you can purchase for Google Maps JavaScript API, Static Maps API, and Street View Image API from 1,000,000 to 100,000 requests. Developers requiring higher quota should contact Sales to discuss a Premium Plan license.
    4. We now count Google Maps JavaScript API client-side service requests towards the daily limit of the associated web service API.

Despite the fact we have already added Google API key for our Google Maps Easy plugin, since the large number of plugin users, we can simply exceed limits of map loads per day, therefore you may encounter with problem of displaying map. So to avoid this problem, we’ve added the option to use your own API key for Google Maps Easy plugin. You can find more information in this article – https://supsystic.com/google-maps-api-key/ – please check it.

    Hello supsystic

I have exactly the same problem and i’m using my own API Code. I’ve been through your tutorial step by step but the API Code doesn’t seem to work and i’ve tried it several times.
Do you have any idea what i’m doing wrong?

    Thank you in advance.

    Best regards

    Hi @marjoleinm

Please check your API key, maybe you copy-pasted it partially (not fully). Also if you have used “Get Direction” option – please enable Directions API in your API console – https://prnt.sc/d9x9ch

If you still will have problems with map – please contact us.

    Hi @supsysticcom

I am having the same issue. I’ve created an API key and yet it doesn’t work. And all the API options have been activated.
Could you tell me what to do? Here is the link to my map page: https://frenchelectrons.com/travel-map/

    Thanks
