  • I get the same error too!

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class MailChimp_Error in /plugins/mailchimp-for-woocommerce/includes/api/errors/class-mailchimp-error.php on line 14

    Hey all,

Thanks for writing in! Sorry to hear about that error y’all are seeing. In order to investigate, mind sharing some more details? Specifically:

    – The version of WordPress you’re using
    – The detailed workflow you’re using when you see this issue
    – At which step in activation you’re seeing this issue
    – A link to a hosted screenshot of where you’re seeing the error (be sure to obscure any private information when posting!)

For all who find this thread and are adding your case for the first time, please also include the exact error that you’re receiving.

I’ll keep an eye out for responses!

    Thanks,
    Garnet

I get this error on Activation –

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class MailChimp_Error in /plugins/mailchimp-for-woocommerce/includes/api/errors/class-mailchimp-error.php on line 14

I have another Mailchimp integration plugins installed. I’m going to try and turn it off a little later to see if that’s related to the issue. Specifically Contact Form 7 MailChimp Extension By Renzo Johnson and MailChimp for WordPress by ibericode.

Fatal error: Class name must be a valid object or a string in /home/vcloud/public_html/wp-content/plugins/mailchimp-for-woocommerce/mailchimp-woocommerce.php on line 188

    -> wordpress version: 4.6.1
-> The error occurs when active plugin
-> The error occurs in the plugin screen and is blank screen with the above error message.

    Same here.

Fatal error: Cannot declare class MailChimp_Error, because the name is already in use in… Latest version of WP and all plugins.

    Hey everyone,

Thanks for continuing to post your cases and additional information! I’m digging through each of these and trying to replicate the errors y’all are reporting. Got one so far:

For @prtty and @alf1996 – The error y’all reported seeing was:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘[‘ in /home/.sites/435/site1386/web/new/wp-content/plugins/mailchimp-for-woocommerce/includes/slack/Contracts/Http/Interactor.php on line 13

I was able to replicate this issue when my site was using php 5.3. When upgrading, I was able to activate successfully. Try upgrading your site’s php and see if that helps!

For everyone else, still digging, but some additional information would be super helpful:
    – What version of php you’re using
    – Any other plugins you have activated (esp any MailChimp ones)

I’ll update the thread as I get more information. Thanks for all your posts!

This one is for @mizzinc, @theitjuggler, @draivika – the error ya’ll reported was:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare class MailChimp_Error in /plugins/mailchimp-for-woocommerce/includes/api/errors/class-mailchimp-error.php on line 14

Thanks to information from @theitjuggler I was able to replicate this when the Contact Form 7 MailChimp plugin was activated. Disabling the Contact Form 7 plugin allowed me to activate the MailChimp for WooCommerce plugin as expected.

Try disabling the Contact Form 7 plugin then activating the MailChimp for WooCommerce plugin to see if that works. Let me know if you see anything else crop up!

@lenz_poa I still haven’t been able to replicate the error you reported. Can you let me know what version of php you’re using as well as any plugins you have installed?

    Thanks!
    Garnet

Just add that we solved the issue above by updating the PHP on our server to the latest and it solved it. we have contact form 7 still installed.

Fatal error on activation here as well, even when all other plugins are disabled this one will not work!

    php v7.0
    wordpress v4.6.1

    Here is the error message:
    Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function wc_clean() in /home/des/public_html/wp-content/plugins/mailchimp-for-woocommerce/includes/class-mailchimp-woocommerce-activator.php:52 Stack trace: #0 /home/des/public_html/wp-content/plugins/mailchimp-for-woocommerce/includes/class-mailchimp-woocommerce-activator.php(29): MailChimp_Woocommerce_Activator::create_keys(‘MailChimp’, ‘USER_ID’, ‘read_write’) #1 /home/des/public_html/wp-content/plugins/mailchimp-for-woocommerce/mailchimp-woocommerce.php(155): MailChimp_Woocommerce_Activator::activate() #2 /home/des/public_html/wp-includes/plugin.php(524): activate_mailchimp_woocommerce(”) #3 /home/des/public_html/wp-admin/plugins.php(166): do_action(‘activate_mailch…’) #4 {main} thrown in /home/des/public_html/wp-content/plugins/mailchimp-for-woocommerce/includes/class-mailchimp-woocommerce-activator.php on line 52

    Hey @neznayka2000,

Thanks for posting! I was able to actually replicate this error in testing when the WooCommerce plugin itself is disabled. The MailChimp for WooCommerce plugin will not function without the WooCommerce plugin being enabled as well.

Give that a shot and if you’re still seeing issues, feel free to let me know what plugins you have activated and set up and I can keep digging.

    Best,
    Garnet

Thank you Garnet! Yes it works now, the issue i was initially having before was caused by a conflict with another plugin.

    Thanks for the followup, @neznayka2000!

Sorry for the initial trouble and inconvenience. If you get an opportunity and are enjoying or working plugin, can you please update your review / rating? And of course please feel free to reach out with any other questions or concerns.

    Thanks again,
    Garnet

I actually hd multiple Mailchimp related plugins, not Contact From 7. Deactivating Hustle did it for me. I would like to be able to tell the hustle plugin developer about this, so what is the conflict exactly and what can other plugin developers do differently to avoid it? I always hate it when the answer to a conflict is that I can’t use a certain plugin. Thanks!

@mcsupport … many thanks, we updated to PHP 5.6 and activation and setup worked perfect.
Contact Form 7 still running also without problems.

Had no chance to test the e-commerce functionality as we are in a very early development stage.

    Thanks again.
