    Hey, Scott,

    I’m getting the same error.

Also, there are no instructions on what to do with the downloaded certificate for the Plugin. Should that be installed somewhere via FTP? Or does PayPal hold the certificate code?

Also, some clarity on whether to get an API certificate or signature as the document linked to with instructions from PayPal recommend a certificate, yet the Plugin settings as for the API signature, and I can’t find that.

    Thanks.

    Hi Lorelle,

There is no certificate necessary to make the plugin work. All that is needed is the API credentials.

Can you please provide a link to the page on your with where the plugin is being used.

    Thanks,
    Scott

For posterity, I figured it out. Give monkeys enough time with a typewriter…

On PayPal, go to Profile > Business Profile > Settings > My Selling Tools > API Access > Update.

If you have already created an API certificate, remove it.

Create a new one and choose SIGNATURE not certificate.

PayPal will ask for a secondary security confirmation via text or phone call.

The resulting page will show the username, password, and signature code. You will have to click “show” to see them. Copy and paste each into the settings for the Plugin on WordPress.

It takes a few minutes to allow PayPal to update its database and API, then it works.

    WEEEEEEEE!!!

Thanks, Scott. I couldn’t figure out why I should download the certificate. Guess it just goes into the secure files for the site.

    Thanks!

BTW, Scott, I was interested in seeing the difference between the pro version and the free version, and all the links I’m finding are to 404s. It also appears that you haven’t had enough interest to make a pro version, so is there one? Thanks.

    Hi Lorelle,

I’m glad you got it working!!!

I did consider making a pro version, but the plugin never really got popular enough.

If you have any other problems just let me know. And if you have the chance, please consider leaving a review for this plugin.

    Thanks,
    Scott

I used EDD for years but I did want something else that would allow me not to create a post with a download but to put a download into a post. I found this plugin and it does exactly what I want it to do … but …

@babaorum – are you signed up for digital payments with PayPal? If not, you may need to call them to join for free.
