Upgrading Theme Advice

  • Hi all, I’ve just upgraded from 2.1 to 2.6 and hopefully upgraded my theme correctly also. What I did was place the new default theme and my existing theme based on the old default theme into winmerge and copied over the changes to my theme. So far it seems to be working okay, but I wanted some advice from you to determine whether I did it right or wasted my time. Thanks in advance.

  • It is simple. You go to the Template_Tags page in the Codex and check for all the deprecated tags; make sure they are not used in your new theme and are replaced with the new tags.

    Moshu, not to sound condescending, but simple for who? I’ve gone through all 16 template files in my themes and cannot find any of the deprecated template_tags using the search and find feature. Because this is an old theme there has to be some deprecated tags based on what I’m seeing in the codex (version 2.3 etc.) so I must be doing something wrong.
