validate xhtml strict drop down menu?

hi, one of the options for archive is to list them by option value. i used to have a script that opens the links from a drop down menu. but since xhtml strict doesn’t allow name for the form, it doesn’t work. is there another javascript that does the same thing that’s validated xhtml strict? thanks
