Quick Template Question

Hello,

I’m creating my own WordPress website, and I’m trying to add google maps to my page. After trying hard to just copy their basic code snipit and drop it into the text editor and not being able to get it to work, I’ve decided to try a different approach.

I’ve been looking at the template hierarchy trying to figure out how wordpress uses pages.

What I want to do is have a page called “Locations” and when that said page is called, use the template file called locations.php instead of page.php. I’ve tried to read up on slugs, and page name, but all the documentation for WP doesn’t seem to be following what I need.

Anyone have a suggestion to put me in my right place, or perhaps a solution?
