Allowing access to options-general.php

    Hello,

    My client is using your plugin and are having issues with getting a certain role to have access to content set up with Global Content Blocks (another plugin). It’s possible to give access to the GCB landing page and see what blocks exist, but if you click on one, you are kicked back to the dashboard home page.

    If you hover over a GCB item, the URL is like so: https://www.mywebsite.com/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=global-content-blocks&view=update&edid=1 It made me wonder if the access is related to being able to edit on options-general.php? We already have “Manage Options” checked and that does not allow access. I’ve tried “Edit Posts,” “Edit Theme Options,” and “Edit Themes” — and nothing else really stands out as a possibly related option.

    Other ideas for making this content accessible to a role?

    Hi, does your client use Pro version of URE? If Yes, then recommend him to update to the latest version, which has support for the ‘view’ and ‘edit’ additional parameters for ‘global-content-block’ page when access to the options-general.php (Settings) itself was blocked via “Admin Menu Access” add-on.

    To get quick support for the Pro version use the dedicated forum (for active subscribers only).

    Yes, they do have the PRO version.

    We’ve actually discovered that GCB is no longer allowed in the plugin repository for security reasons. I’m going to create Advanced Custom Fields option fields instead to replace the GCB blocks.

    ACF allows you to create multiple option pages. I don’t know that I’ll need to define access to individual option pages, but is that possible?

    If those individual option pages will be linked to the admin menu (left sidebar at WP admin back-end) it will be possible to manage access with Admin Menu Access add-on of User Role Editor Pro.

    Hi, Vladimir.

    Wanted to report that I was able to get this to work. The Admin Menu Access was already checked. The ACF options are categorized under edit_posts, though, so I just needed to check that for the given user — and THEN I used the Admin Menu button to hide any post-related nav items that the user should not have access to.
