Fatal Error when activating plugin with WP version 4.6.1 and below

Unable to activate the Goldstar plugin (version 1.4.5) using WordPress version 4.6+. The following errors are seen:

Warning: require_once(__DIR__/widgets/teaser/teaser.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home1/nocontra/public_html/miamitext.com/wp-content/plugins/goldstar/goldstar.php on line 62

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required ‘__DIR__/widgets/teaser/teaser.php’ (include_path=’.:/opt/php52/lib/php’) in /home1/nocontra/public_html/miamitext.com/wp-content/plugins/goldstar/goldstar.php on line 62

I tried to modify the directory where the teaser.php file is as well as tried copying the teaser.php file into the root but that did not work.

Please provide a solution, help!
