• I am resurrecting an old blog that has been dormant for more than a year. I attempted to upgrade from WordPress version 2.0 to the newest version 2.6 with less-than-successful results…

Therefore, I was thinking that I may need to take some “baby steps” … perhaps updating 2.0 to an “slightly-newer version” … then “another slightly-newer version” … and then to version 2.6?!?

Before I randomly start selecting updates, does anyone here have any idea what I should do?

    I appreciate any input.

    no ideas?

This worked with friend’s install, but of course,
    1) saved XML, SQL and downloaded files in server before messing with anything ??
    2) Upgraded from 2.0 to 2.2,
    3) make sure permalinks working and posts appearing then upgrade to 2.3.1,
    4) make sure permalinks working and posts appearing then upgrade to 2.5,
    5) make sure permalinks working and posts appearing then to 2.6

Long process but it worked. Needed to change/upgrade plugins. There could be a shorter way but we like to err on the side of caution and less head-banging ??
    Good luck.

mercime – Thank you for the info.

I don’t mind if the upgrades take a bit of time … just as long as I know it worked for someone else. Of course I realize only too well that just because it worked for your friend that … well, you know…

Gotta start somewhere, so here I go!

    Thanks again. ??
