Assigning specific positions to player performance box scores

  • Not urgent, as I have been (and will continue to) trial and error test this 100 different ways until I find the least tedious path… but does anyone know if there is a way to assign a specific amount & specific order of positions in the player performance box score area when entering stats after a game?

    For example, right now there are so many steps involved.
    First, when going to input stats (edit event) he has to select his 5 “Offense” players and his 1 “Defense” player (goalie)… hit UPDATE just to get them to show up in the box score… then he has to go through and manually change the position for all 5 players (because all 5 default to Center when it would be nice to have all 5 unique positions already assigned… most players in our league are loaded as MULTIPLE eligible postions…we dont assign just 1 position to each player)….

    Again, I am still testing out different ways to do this, but ultimately I am just asking anyone who runs a league with LOTS of scheduled games and thus, LOTS of stat entry via multiple users on a regular basis…what is the most efficient way to set up your data in advance so its the easiest on the captain who has to enter it? Currently I first import the TEAMS, then the PLAYERS, then the FIXTURES… etc etc… just seeing how others do it…i am very new to this tool

    Hi James!

    I believe this is the kind of thing that users may be better at than developers. As far as I know the way you are doing is the right way, although it looks tedious the steps are required for all data to be saved correctly.

    So if anyone else have an idea to share, that would be nice.

    Thanks Roch. The workaround I have found to be the most convenient is to only assign one “Position” to each player, and encourage captains to make that position the one that their players will play “most of time” (so in most cases the box score will be auto-ready after selecting the 5 starters)… and then we added a new custom player detail field called “Eligible Position(s)” which basically lists all of the positions a player is allowed to play on any given night. (you are restricted to playing only positions that you sign up for each season…and it has to be tracked)

    You can close this ticket…I was just seeking feedback.
