• Hello,

I found a few older posts related to this, but wanted to see if changes have occurred since. I am wondering if it is possible to automatically link “players” (loaded via sportspress importer tool) to existing (or new) “users” tied to your wordpress site. I run a hockey league and every season we draft new teams and I would hate to have to manually go through every single player 1 by 1 and link them to their “user” (author? the old posts say to use the “author” field but i only see “user” in current player edit screen)

Is there a way to automate this via some sort of “tie player to userX” in the import?
I assume there is zero direct link between a users “username” and their manually created “player name”?
    etc etc

thanks for any help on this issue
    -James

now that i think about this more, once a user/player is added to the page/league… that link between WP username and “player username” should be basically permanent… (whereas NEW users/players would have to be manually linked, which is not a big deal)…. i guess my only remaining question would be, each new season where u load “NEW TEAMS” that utilize EXISTING players from the prior season, can that be bulk loaded? or would it need to be done manually? (IE, im operating under the assumptiont hat if i load an EXISTING playername assigned to a NEW team, it will automatically create an NEW, unlinked player…which defeats the purpose)

    Im still learning here lol

    Hi guys!

    Thanks for the input.

Unfortunately this isn’t possible at the moment, you’ll need some custom code to achieve this.

    Kind Regards,

He will only be unlinked if you haven’t added him to a team, if you add him to a team he will be linked to that team if i am correct. If your lists are set up correctly they should repopulate with all the players on the list.

Thanks for the quick responses. For now we will just manually link new users with their new “player” via the edit player screen. That does bring up a follow-up related question though… are regular users able to edit their “player profiles”? (not their wordpress user profiles, but the linked player profiles with all the fields we have like Nationality, Name, Age, Favorite TEam, other custom fields we added, etc)

Right now the only way i see to do that is via the admin EDIT PLAYER screen…. I want all regular non-admin players to be able to add photos, edit these player details, etc by themselves.

    Thanks

    Hi!

” are regular users able to edit their “player profiles”?”
No, they only have access to their profile panel from WordPress, which does not contain SportsPress data.

To do that you can use SportsPress Pro and make use of the different player roles we have there

    Kind Regards,
