If https://studenthousing.stanford.edu/ is actually pointing to the correct location and is not forwarded or anything weird like that, then all you have to do is to change the two URLs on the Options->General screen.

But that all depends on what exactly you mean by “vanity” and how it is configured.

Maybe you can’t access to the lower directories in this domain, and if that happened you can’t change the URL for “vanity” ??

I actually tried changing the site url, and it bombed. I could display pages, but not the administrator screens.
What happened was, it was trying to launch “https://studenthousing.stanford.edu/rde/cgi-binshwpprod/wp-admin/…..”.
In other words, it took the vanity url (studenthousing), and appended “.stanford.edu” and also the absolute path “/rde/….”.
It looks like we have hit a limitation here in WordPress, or Stanford’s urls do something that is not compatible with WordPress….

We can access the lower directories, because we are using https, and displaying images from the lower directories.

Thank you both, for your replies.
Further ideas would be much appreciated.

But where is the WordPress installation? In /dept/rde/cgi-bin/sh/wpprod/?

If yes, you need to install wordpress over / in order to make the URLs.

Yes, the installation is under the directory wpprod.

Would you say more about what you mean “install WordPress over /”?

    Thank you.
