I’m building a site for someone else, and I connected Jetpack to my own WordPress.com account, then thought it would be better to make an account just for this person, with it’s own email address.

My account keeps showing as the one connected with this website.

Here’s what I’ve tried, to no avail:

    * Disconnecting old account, reconnecting new one.
    * Deactivating plugin and trying to connect account.
    * Uninstalling, reinstalling…
    * Logging into WordPress.com account and making sure it wasn’t installed.

It shows up as connected in the WordPress.com account of the new account.
However, in the plugin on the self-hosted wp site, it shows my account.
Also, I changed my WordPress.com username to see what would happen, and it shows the old one.

    Please help!

Thanks for the report! Could you provide me with the site URL so I can take a look? It would also be helpful if you could let me know what the expected and actual connected user account is, the exact steps that result in the problem, and the location of the incorrect username.

Please let me know about the above, and we can go from there!

I’m having the exact same problem. The backstory is, I’ve been using my myntkat wordpress account with myntkat.com for years, I just started another blog and thought I could just use a different gravatar on the same account. After connecting the new shinylife.co.uk with my myntkat account I realised that jetpack didn’t work that way, so I disconnected it, removed it from my wordpress account and started shinylifeforme as a new wordpress account to use.
Now when I try to connect shinylife.co.uk jetpack to shinylifeforme account, it says it’s connecting, it even brings me to the shinylifeforme wordpress account. But when I check in the jetpack settings on shinylife.co.uk it still shows myntkat. I’ve disconnected, reinstalled, nothing works, it keeps saying it’s connecting to the new account but still shows the old account every time.

I just checked again, I’m sure I left it unconnected yesterday, but now it’s connected to the correct account. If someone fixed it, thanks. If not, then I have no idea what happened.

    Hi Ryan,

I can’t give a URL since it’s in maintenance mode.. still developing.

    The desired username is “jetpackmr”
My username is “cejlcejl”, although I changed it to “cejlmcgill” and it still says “cejlcejl” in Jetpack

    Thanks!

@cejl: Could you tell me more about your current site setup? Are you working on a live server or on a localhost environment? Without the URL, I’m afraid that it’s tough for me to troubleshoot. So please let me know about the above, and we can go from there.

@myntkat: Hi there! Could you please start your own thread, as per the Forum Welcome?

    Thank you!

Got the same problem as the OP describes, this solved it for me:

-From your site dashboard go to Jetpack configuration and take note of the username it shows you are connected as.

    -Disconnect your account.

    -!Backup of your database!

-Go to your database and search for the username you copied. It will show up in the “options” table.

    -Delete the entry.

-Go to your dashboard and connect Jetpack with the desired account.

Apparently, when you disconnect your account, Jetpack doesn’t delete the option “_transient_jetpack_connected_user_data_1” from the database and when you connect it to a different account, Jetpack doesn’t update this entry neither.

    Cheers.
