• HI,

I would like to create a development environment that I can work on and then upload any changes to my live site. I can’t have a content freeze during this time as content changes made while the new site is being developed would need to be reflected on the new site when it goes live.

Can anyone tell me what is the easiest way to do this? I was looking at coping my site into a subdirectory on my web host and working from these but I’m not sure how this would work with the database?

  • If you use Cpanel and it supports staging than it is the best way to do it.

If you dont have any comments and the database changes are only done by you than you can create a copy on development environment make a changes there and then create a backup using updraft plus plugin and restore the backup of development site in the live site

Thanks Sakar, I’m not using C-panel. Is there an easy way to get this up and running. Just checked my host but it doesn’t look like they have it as a tool? Also, there are others making changes to the Database. Is there a way that I can have a development site and then upload changes I’ve made without overriding changes made after my ‘development copy’ site was taken?
