• Hi there,

as of today I get two messages on the admin dashboard:

    1) “WooCommerce Gateway PayPal Express Checkout requires OpenSSL >= 1.0.1 to be installed on your server” and
    2) “Stripe is almost ready. To get started, set your Stripe account keys.”

I neither use paypal nor stripe, I have them deactivated. How can I get rid of those two messages, since they are not really helpful?

The error messages are showing up since today. Yesterday there were none of those.

Our provider is 1&1 (Germany) and they are no big help on this, even though an SSL certificate has been installed.

The “Performance” Server (as it is called by 1&1) runs with PHP 5.5 and MySQL 5.5

Any ideas or hints are much appreciated.

    Patrick

  • What version of WooCommerce are you running? 2.6.X has payment gateways installed as stand alone plugins and you could deactivate them/remove them.

i am having same problems. Stripe is deactivated but I am still getting this ‘Stripe is almost ready’ message. I want to get rid of this message.
    Woocommerce 2.6.14 and WordPress 4.7.3

Updated for other users who might run into this issue.

WooCommerce payment gateways get installed as separate plugins after you enable them from within WooCommerce. So you need to disable the payment gateways in the plugins list, even if you have deselected them in the WooCommerce settings.
