You can rest assured: the Old Stats are still there! There are different ways to access the old Stats page:

1. You can click on “View All” in the Stats dashboard widget.
2. You can click on “View Old Stats” in the new Jetpack dashboard.
3. You can click on the Stats graph appearing in the admin bar when viewing your site.

We’ve chosen to highlight the new Stats for a few reasons:

1. The new Stats on WordPress.com include an “Insights” tab that gives you a little summary of how well your site is performing, when it might be best to publish future posts, how your previous posts have performed so far, …
2. New Stats include Geographical Stats, showing you where your visitors are coming from.
3. New Stats display Page Views of course, but also Unique Visits, to give you an idea of the number of different people that actually visited your site.
4. The new Stats screen is responsive, while the old stats are not. It’s consequently a lot easier to view your stats from a mobile device.

I hope this clarifies things a bit. Can you think of some data you’d like us to add the new Stats page, to make them more useful?

Thank you, especially because you’re response makes me think that the headers error I reported elsewhere is preventing me from seeing the news stats!

I only see the simple graph — and the cannot write headers info must be blocking what the page is supposed to look like.

Well, let’s get the errors sorted out, and I’ll see what is really on the page!

Just to clarify, the Jetpack dashboard does in deed only show you a quick preview of your stats; if you want to see detailed stats, you have to access the full stats, either on WordPress.com or on the old stats page in your dashboard.

Hope you don’t mind me chiming in here. I also dislike the new stats. The information in the Jetpack dashboard is far too basic to be useful, and you’ve put hurdles in the way of getting to the full information, by forcing extra clicks and/or sending us off-site. That’s really not helpful at all.

Is it too much to ask that the link to Site Stats be put back into the Jetpack admin sidebar menu (Dashboard/Settings/Vaultpress/Akismet etc)?

And can you assure us that the old stats page is not going to vanish in a future Jetpack update? If it does I’ll have to find a new stats plugin.

You can still use 2 of the methods I mentioned in my post above:

You can click on “View All” in the Stats dashboard widget.
You can click on the Stats graph appearing in the admin bar when viewing your site.

Both are even faster than having to go to Jetpack > Site Stats.

The new dashboard is also a way to introduce you to the advanced stats on WordPress.com, if you didn’t know about them yet. As I mentioned above, they offer information that is not available in old stats, so it’s worth giving them a try I think.

Do you think you could expand on that? We’ve built the new Jetpack dashboard to provide you with the most important information about your site’s health on one single screen. The different cards offer you information about different aspects of your site: stats, security, performance. It’s a first iteration though, and we will of course see about adding more things if they’re important for everyone.

If we were to add more details to the Stats card, what would you add there? We obviously can’t add everything, or the concept of ‘dashboard’ disappears. What would you like to see “at a glance”, every time you access that dashboard? Are there specific stat elements that you want to see every time you access your dashboard, but that are missing from the Stats card on the new Jetpack dashboard?

And can you assure us that the old stats page is not going to vanish in a future Jetpack update? If it does I’ll have to find a new stats plugin.

That’s not in our plans right now, but I can’t tell you what will happen in the future. If you would have told me about a React-powered Jetpack dashboard 2 years ago, I wouldn’t have believed you ??

Ultimately, our goal isn’t to get rid of that page. I think the real question here is: how can we make that Stats page better? What are the things you like about it, how would you improve it, and what parts of it would you bring to the Jetpack dashboard, as I mentioned above.

Meh, I am also a bit disappointed with the new way of showing the stats.

Accessing it via the admin menu on the left side was quite okay. One click and we’re there. Just bringing that old menu item back (with leading to the old stats) would make things easier for lots of us, without affecting the rest of the jetpack plugin.

The way of accessing the stats now (Dashboard -> View old stats) is really a pain in the you-know-what because the loading time is doubled (and the admin backend, especially Jetpack’s, is much too slow).

I don’t understand why the new stats are on the dashboard and not accessible from the menu. The stats HAD a link to WP stats, and it was one click fewer. I had no idea where my stats where for the past few days, as I never go to the Jetpack dashboard. Finally found them, but how annoying! Now it is TWO clicks to get to the stats I want to see, AND two clicks to get to WP. It used to be 2 clicks to WP and ONE click to stats. Super frustrating. Please put the stats link back into the menu bar.

@tenordad @electrosmog Until we iterate on the new Jetpack dashboard, I’d recommend checking the 2 other methods you can use (both one one click) to get to the old stats.

That’s where your feedback is very useful! What would you want to see in the new Stats dashboard? How can we make both the old stats and the new stats better? Are there specific features from the old stats that you feel are needed in the new Jetpack dashboard, because they’re things you check every time you want to take a quick look at how your site is doing? What do you like in the Old Stats, that’s missing in WordPress.com stats?

Sorry chaps this one is a “fail.” I cannot, unless I go back to the old stats page, see who has searched for what on my site and what keywords are popular for that day. The snapshot of how each article is doing has also disappeared. Not seeing an “all” button anywhere either. It is just the new stats with a click to enter the old stats and a lot of adverts to go pro.

Would you like to see all that data added to the “At a Glance” Jetpack dashboard, or are you happy with them being on the detailed Stats page only? The dashboard is meant to be a place where you can find the most important things about your site’s health, and an entry point to other sections of your site, like the detailed stats. That said, if you think some of the elements of the detailed stats page are important enough to be on the Jetpack dashboard, we can see about adding them there if others find them important too.

Sorry, maybe I am being dense. Which methods use only one click? It appears to me that I now need to get to the Jetpack dashboard (one click) before seeing the All button (one more click) or the Old Stats buttons (also one more click). Am I wrong? Is there a way to get stats in one click from my Wp admin page? Anyway, yes here is the user feedback that you requested. Do not like. ?? Have a good day! (and please let me know if I am wrong about getting one click stats from Wp admin page!)

Sorry, I realize all these mentions of dashboards and widgets might not be super clear. A video might be better. Here are the 2 options I mentioned earlier:

It’s far from the ideal, but it offers a good work-around if you do not use the Stats dashboard widget, nor the Stats graph, and would rather have a Site Stats menu item right now, and until we decide to bring that menu item back.

I also dislike the new stats. One wants to see the current day by default, not the histogram for the month. Clicking on a particular day prompts for a log-in for some reason. Mousing over the histogram on Firefox leaves an artifact which obscures the dates, by the way.

I can live with linking to the old stats, but please don’t remove them!

That’s indeed the expected behaviour, as advanced stats require you to be logged in to your WordPress.com account.

One wants to see the current day by default, not the histogram for the month.

Instead of the graph, would you rather see stats for the current day only? What else would you want to see there? Top Posts for the current day?

I installed the little plugin and this is exactly what many of us wanted back. They are the best “one at a glance” statistics – much better than the new one on the new dashboard with too little information and without having to navigate to the other, more detailed ones. That absolutely works for me – but yeah, it’s a little senseless to have a plugin for a plugin. ??

So, what about letting the user decide, which stats should be shown by accessing it from the left admin menu? I think it would be cool to do it this way:

In the Jetpack options:

Show Statistics item menu (ON-OFF toggle)
And within this option one can choose between the new simple stats like those on the JP dashboard, the classic ones or the detailed ones.

This would be the perfect solution and everyone could set whatever stats screen he wants. What about that?
