Use “user_nicename” instead of nickname for the author slug?

    In the admin settings it allows me to use “nickname”, but it doesn’t allow me to use “nicename”. Is there a way I can instead use the “user_nicename”?

  • You realize that this has nothing to do with the plugin but only the way WordPress is working/behaving?
    (You could/can change this by creating an own function, or another plugin, both possible!)

    @wordpresschina The answer is no, because technically, when you change the author slug, you’re changing the user_nicename. By default, when you create a user, WordPress bases the user_nicename you the newly created username. This is also the default author slug format in Edit Author Slug. If that’s what you’re looking to use, then you really don’t need Edit Author Slug at all.
