• I did a test export and import of my new site, with 19 posts, using WP All Import and WP ALL Export.

The content field stuffed up with this (on three lines):
    Name
    Address
    Post Code
    becoming this (on one line):
    Name Address Post Code

All the posts lost the categories, and tab separations exported with the tab break “|” but imported with “|” replacing the tab break creating one single tab with all combined tab names in it.

Result being: all original categories and tabs were lost.

Obviously all my custom fields were lost too.

Maybe the process is faulty, or maybe the instructions are not clear enough.

When using an Export and Import plugin from the same supplier, I expected a simple export out, a few changes and then import back without too many problems.

This is not a simple one.

    Hi ABCDiamond,

We apologize for the poor experience – we’re hard at work on improving WP All Export and WP All Import. We’d love to talk with you about what you were trying to do and where things went wrong. The best way to get in touch would probably be to send us an email at [email protected].

I will work on a full experience by email for you, but for now, I would have one suggestion.

You have an Import Plugin and an Export plugin. they need to be 100% compatible.

If it was mine, I would have a simple option in both:
    Export plugin: Export ALL fields.
    Import Plugin: Import ALL fields.
No messing about with all the different options, but just ensure that whatever gets exported into a csv/excel file, also gets imported back using the import plugin, after additions/changes.

Obviously the existing options: to allow updating when same ID is found, or creating new post when no ID is found, and deleting old ID’s when not found should be included to.

I am not sure what caused the line breaks to be lost when re-imported, but that is a major problem. I wish WordPress would retain all
etc codes, to make import and export easier.

Ok, thanks. Specifically, if you can send us a screencast quickly showing exactly what you did for your export/import we’d be very grateful.
