Doesn't work, support team ineffective

I followed instructions to install the plugin, and was able to configure a new template, but it renders an error where the promo box should be on the blog post.
When I contacted their support team, they responded by asking for my site’s admin credentials so they could log in as an admin and debug it. Not acceptable! I provided them with detailed information and screen shots, and they still keep asking for my login.
Why would anybody give their admin credentials to some random support rep? Why can’t they ask me some useful questions, or give me some useful suggestions about what I could try to fix this?
