• The standard version only lets you rename files in an automated mode, meaning you are unable to choose the new filename. In order to do so, you must upgrade to Pro. Not recommended.

Come on, it is written in the description. Remove this review, it doesn’t even rate the plugin, it’s just a rant. If the option wasn’t there (and it wasn’t one year ago) you would never had rated it like this. Moderators, please do something, that should really end, that is killing the will of developers trying to keep the best quality in plugins.

I tagged modlook. How can we get rid of it of this kind of reviews which aren’t really reviews? Can I change the plugin name to call it Media File Automatic Renamer or something of that sort? Any solution would be fine for me. The plugin and the clients behind it are really happy with it and we need to continue. I just want to avoid the useless complains, it’s really not good for anyone and doesn’t serve any purpose. Advices are welcome.

Hi Jordy, sorry to hear you don’t consider my input a “review”. I was looking for a plugin that would let me rename my media files to my liking. The name of your plugin is “Media File Renamer”, so I assumed it would do the job, but alas, it did not. It only allowed changes baased on automatic settings and had to pay for the Pro version to do what I want.

May I suggest you change the name of your plugin to something that indicates this “feature” more prominently, without having to read the whole plugin description in order to realize that such a basic feature is limmited to paying users.

Unfortunately not possible. Otherwise I would have done it.

    Media File Renamer

It can be interpreted in many different ways. Originally the plugin was an automatic renamer. I added the manual rename as a feature, it is not the default. I did this for my users and proposed it as a PRO upgrade. Now I get 1-star review because I did it.

Yes, it’s not from my point of view. Myself, I would never do such a thing. It’s just coming here to hurt the developer. Users who would like to learn about the quality of the plugin and how well it works will lose their time reading this. Serious users want something that work. The Pro version is explained in the plugin’s description already and one of the first words I am using in the description is “automatic”. I am not sure what you are reviewing, the name of the plugin then, without having read the description? Really, I don’t see the point, except that it hurts me as a developer.

@fmonti with the greatest respect I have to agree with the developer, your review is totally unjust and unfair. If you had read the plugins description instead of merely ‘assuming’ it would do what you wanted it to do you could have saved yourself the time and effort installing it. Of course you should ALWAYS read the full description (and the reviews and the FAQ’s) before deciding to install ANY plugin. Your inability to do so is naive at best, at worst potentially dangerous and downright lazy. Think about it for a minute… what would happen if you installed a plugin that then trashed your site because either known issues had been clearly indicated in the information provided by the developer or you had used it incorrectly.

Any potential user with a modicum of sense looking to research Media File Renamer to see whether it is right for the job will read your review and come to the same conclusion as I have. The developer has been upfront and honest about the feature and limitations provided by the free version. Your review and rating is invalid and should be dismissed.

I should also add the comparatively small fee charged to upgrade to the Pro version is money well spent and helps the developer to provide the time and resources to develop and support both the plugin and its users.
