Waiting doesn’t do anything. There has to be activity on the site. You have to do something, like make new posts, or use the site in any way whatsoever.
Websites are not like programs on your computer. Websites only run when somebody is actively doing something on them. The importer runs for 30 seconds and then it stops. When you access the site, up to a minute later, it tries to run for another 30 seconds, and then it stops. The importer isn’t designed to be used on a site that you’re not using, it’s supposed to be used to import into a live and active site, where you’re writing posts, installing themes or plugins, setting it up… doing *something* to it so that it can run. It can’t run if you’re not using it.
