• I have disabled the visual editor through the profile to eliminate the wysiwyg editor (TinyMCE) as the issue. I have reproduced the problem on IE 6 and IE 7. FF1.5 goes to a white screen when trying to use the Add Media popup. And FF2.0.0.14 seems to work as expected.

In IE (temporary files/cache has been cleared) I edit a post or page, highlight some text, click the Add Media icon (in this case I chose the circle but it doesn’t matter which one I click), click Media Library, click “show” beside the image or pdf, click “Insert into Post”, and the link appears at the front of the post instead of the highlighted text or where the cursor was.

“This is the text. Let’s say I want to insert the link HERE. Instead.”

“THELINKAPPEARSHEREThis is the text. Let’s say I want to insert the link HERE. Instead.”

    Any suggestions?

Adding media isn’t a highlight thing. It inserts the link wherever you place the cursor. If you have something highlighted, then the cursor is at the beginning of the highlight.

Btw, browser caches and /wp-content/uploads/js_cache have been cleared.

Hello Otto42! In FF2.0.0.14 if you highlight the text and add media then the text you highlighted will be replaced with the “title” of the media and turned into a link.

That aside, I have tested without highlighting text and experience the same problem on 3 different machines. Problem reproduces in IE6.0.2900 and IE 7.

Same problem as discussed on thread below, and sadly after more than a month, no ideas presented yet:
