• We recently moved from some basic hard-coded sharing buttons in our theme files to Addthis Pro. Certainly I like all of the different options Addthis pro offers, but the plugin doesn’t work anywhere near as well as it should.

The #1 issue I’ve come across is that the plugin lets you check a box on pages and posts to determine whether or not the sharing buttons should show up on that page/post.

Unfortunately, it appears that many of our posts publish with that option unchecked, even though I know our authors are not touching it. That checkbox should be on by default and ONLY turned off in rare circumstances in which we need to keep the page sharing-button-free.

Seriously Addthis, you guys can do better. We’re a paying customer and expect you to use the revenue from our subscription and the money you receive from others to ensure that your product is of the highest quality. Please clean up the issues I and others are experiencing and I’ll stick with you. Unfortunately, if we keep experiencing these issues and the quality of your plugin doesn’t appear to improve in the coming months, we’ll have to consider other options. For now, I am going to have to review all newly published posts to see if the buttons are showing up, and if not, I’ll have to turn them on manually. I don’t want to have to keep doing this.
