Barely any free features, nag screen when Photon is enabled.

  • This plugin is crap. The interface shows both paid and free feature, but the paid features are always grayed out and just take up space. They’d rather advertise everywhere their plugin can and annoy people so they don’t want to buy, instead of just keeping the ads to a minimum.

    When I enabled JetPack Photon, the plugin has a non-dismissible banner ad that shows at the top of ever admin page. That was the last straw for me and I uninstalled it. The banner states that the paid version fixes a flaw in the plugin so that it works with Photon. Instead of providing that fix for free, they make an ad so people have to see an error everywhere they look. If you’re looking for solid workmanship, look elsewhere.

    You can remove the ‘Social Settings’ metabox, for example, by deselecting it from the Screen Options drop-down. In the “Basic” settings view, there are only a few greyed out options on the settings pages. There is one line of text above the greyed out options, informing the user why the options are greyed out — I find this avoids unnecessary questions and confusion.

    JetPack Photon cripples the WordPress image functions, as explained in the WARNING message. This is not a “banner” or a “nag” — JetPack Photon must be fixed, not WPSSO. You cannot use the Free version of WPSSO with Photon as it does not come with any 3rd party addons. The Photon addon for WPSSO is required to fix what *Photon* has broken.

    I suggest people try the support forum first, or open a ticket in our support system, if they have any questions or issues with the plugin. You may want to try that in the future. ??
